Excerpt from John Frederick Starck's Daily Hand-Book in Good and Evil Days: Containing All the Meditations and Prayers of the Complete German Original Edition, Together With an Appropriate Selection of Standard English Hymns The translation here given is based on the original edition of 1776, which was edited by John Jacob Starck, a son of John Frederick Starck, after his father's death, and of which stereotyped reprints are published by the Ver einsbuchhandlung Of Calw and Stuttgart, and by Theodor Rother of Leipzig. This edition was chosen, because it represents the final authori tative revision of the work, and may justly be re garded as the standard text. It not only con tains a few more prayers (e. G. Three for every festival instead of one) than other editions and their reprints; but many of its prayers are fuller and richer, and the entire work is more lucidly and logically arranged in five books instead of four. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Find more at www.forgottenbooks.com This book is a reproduction of an important historical work. Forgotten Books uses state-of-the-art technology to digitally reconstruct the work, preserving the original format whilst repairing imperfections present in the aged copy. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in our edition. We do, however, repair the vast majority of imperfections successfully; any imperfections that remain are intentionally left to preserve the state of such historical works.
