Jimmy is returning to Green Star Lake, his Cree community, after spending the last eighteen months in juvenile detention. Although only seventeen years old, he already has a long history of violence, drinking and theft. He is feeling angry and guilty about the death of his father, earlier in his life, and the absence of his mother. He will also face his girlfriend Theresa, the mother of his son. He learned about his son, Chance, in the first few months of his stay in detention. Jimmy wonders if he is still welcome in his community but knows he can always rely on his grandmother for support. His life is further complicated by his old friends who are waiting for him to return so they can get Jimmy back into the life that caused him so much trouble in Green Star Lake. Jimmy has many difficult decisions to make. Will he get his life turned around or go back to the exciting, dangerous life of the past.
