Jasara : Parable of the Lost Sheep is a Christian children's book. The reader is taken alongside Jasara as she travels throughout ancient Israel and Jordan in search of majestic music. This little lamb wanders away from the good shepherd's pasture to find the enchanting sounds. Jasara faces some obstacles along the journey, but ultimately comes to the realization that God is her strength. Throughout the story Jasara and the reader travel through Jordan's Wadi Rum desert, the Dead Sea, and Kidron Valley. Along the way Jasara spots camel caravans, alligators, olive trees, papyrus plants, and much more!
Jasara means "bold" in Arabic and speaks to Jasara's personality as she braves her way through deserts, thunderstorms, wild animals, and persecution. Historically, the time is set around the Hadrianic Jerusalem period (135 to 300 C.E). During this time the Roman Emperor Hadrian turned Jerusalem into a Roman occupied town, and placed a temple for the pagan god Jupiter on top of Jewish temples. Jasara : Parable of the Lost Sheep introduces children to historical contexts within the Bible and is a multicultural spin on the classic bible story. This children's book is meant to instill faith in children and to remind them that God said "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5).
