Inspiring Moments: The Poetic Courage of Victor Micah James are nearly 250 original writings of the 21st-century African American poet Michael James Allen, educator and philanthropist. He posits that poetry removes the stigma of political correctness and the societal moral code of what is
appropriate or inappropriate. Moreover, poetry permits the poet to go from the abyss to luscious green valleys to the mountaintop and write poems that address all topics regarding humanity, from love, hate, apathy to lust, promiscuity to living, death, and dying. Poetry is sublime, of excellence, grandeur, or beauty to inspire great admiration or awe. Removing any bias when readers delve into
each poem, the intent is to make you laugh, cry, and think deeply about the meaning of each poem.
Some of them will challenge and perplex you, and some will make you wonder, like “Suicide 1993,” a
poem about the author’s mother who committed suicide. Or “Blackness,” which deals with discrimination and slavery. Others will provoke you to reflect on some aspect of your life, past, present, and future. So, find that special cuddling and serene space! Indulge! Enjoy!
