When we observe the sociological progress of civilization for the last two hundred years and that we compare it to the technological progress for the same period, we can notice a very significant time lag. And if the sociological progress is falling behind the strong and very efficient lead of technology, it's because of limiting factors which are too numerous to all be dealt with in this essay.
Among these limiting factors, there is one in particular which has a dominant effect on civilization. I mean coercion and its corrosive effects on any and all sociocultural entities.
Coercion, through intimidation and constraint makes possible the indoctrination of the masses, indoctrination is not the monopoly of religions, although they are its main agents; the family, the school, the government and the media are also major agents of indoctrination.
