IMPOSSIBLY CLOSE is an intimate, collaborative memoir detailing the final four years of a mother’s life and the daughter who documented the journey. Born from the profound question of what it actually feels like to approach dying, this book is a raw exploration of the falling apart of a body and independent life, what it really means to help another human, and learning to be close to the people we love. With her mother's explicit permission, the author captures the dreams, struggles and vulnerabilities of a parent facing the end. Crucially, the book chronicles a radical internal shift from managing a mother’s care to listening to an exquisite human being. Ultimately, a profound spiritual unlearning.
