What happens when six lifelong friends, each old enough to carry a Medicare card and none with meaningful boating experience, decide that the perfect adventure is piloting a 47-foot canal boat through the waterways of France? Part travel memoir, part comedy of errors, and part celebration of camaraderie, this story follows a spirited crew of men and women who trade routine for risk as they navigate centuries-old canals, intimidating locks, tight quarters and the occasional bruised ego. With no true captain and only a craving for adventure to guide them, they discover that crewing a boat through rural France requires, teamwork, patience, and the ability to laugh at themselves. Botched rope tosses and misunderstood lock procedures led to evenings of local French wine, shared meals, and stories that stretched into the night. More than a boating adventure, this is a warm, funny and deeply human story about friendship, aging boldly, and proving that some of life's best chapters begin when common sense says you're too old to start.
