Evan Hale makes his living restoring sound—cleaning distorted recordings, isolating voices buried in noise. Precision is how he survives. Control is how he remembers.
Seven years after his wife vanished without a trace, Evan receives an audio file he does not remember recording. In it, her voice whispers his name. Awake.
As Evan searches for answers, fragments of his life begin to fracture: therapy sessions that feel scripted, files that appear without explanation, hours of memory he cannot account for. The more he listens, the clearer it becomes that someone has been guiding him—shaping what he remembers, what he forgets, and what he believes about himself.
What begins as a mystery about a missing woman becomes something far more dangerous: a confrontation with the version of Evan that has been protecting him at any cost.
I Hear Her When I'm Awake is a psychological thriller about memory as evidence, silence as control, and the terrifying question of who gets to decide which version of the truth survives.
