‘How to Sail Around the World Alone’ is the first in a series of ebooks designed as a parent – teacher resource to help 10-12 year olds start the journey towards answering: I KNOW!
The story is based on Kay Cottee (the first) and Jessica Watson's (youngest) journey to sail around the world alone, unassisted. It explores the discovery of purpose, gaining self-belief and courage through the skills acquired to triumph. A window into: Oceanography, Navigation, Communications, Provisioning, Budgeting, Mental Health coping with loneliness and resilience.
Teacher/class review from William aka Fuzzy Mijmark described it as ‘ZEITGEIST’ – “the defining spirit or mood of a particular period of history”.
"What a fantastic book for children! As school teachers, we are always looking for ways to inspire children to think outside of the box and develop effective problem-solving skills. This is the way of the future for our children. Getting them to connect with passions and purpose from a young age effectively leads them to be more fulfilled in life. If you can dream it possible, you can achieve it. I highly recommend this book for both parents and teachers to share with the children in their care. As teachers, we look forward to having it readily available for our students around the country to equip them with vital life skills." – Angela Tonkin, 34, Primary School Educator, Newington College Sydney; Education Office - Canberra and Goulburn Diocese, Catholic Education Office - Broken Bay Diocese
