In 1987, Joe, Christa, Ferguson, Lilah and Dave see something drop from the skies over Hope Falls. The experience bonds them, and Joe goes from being a kid from the wrong side of town to a local character.
Nearly 30 years later, Christa returns to Hope Falls and her circle of old friends to mourn Joe's shocking and curious death. When they learn that Joe has left them a fortune, to be divided between the four friends and a stranger named Jesse Weaver, the friends are flabbergasted. Christa finds herself caught up in old relationships and new mysteries.
Questions mount as they try to learn Joe's secrets: how did he die? Where did the money come from? What is the uncanny Isabel Beauchamp up to? Who is Jesse Weaver, and why is Christa so drawn to him?
Trying to follow the clues leads to otherworldly encounters, a little body snatching, a cult, and the disappearance of two presidential candidates. Hope Falls has always had its share of odd inhabitants, and it seems Joe kept stranger company than any of his friends suspected.
If you've ever lived in a small town and stared up at the stars dreaming of escape, you'll enjoy visiting Hope Falls with Christa, exploring the quirky characters and revisiting old relationships.
