Four trades. Four cities. One last chance he can't afford to waste.
Tony Brown arrives in Brooklyn carrying everything he's never let himself have: a decade of buried desires, a father who mapped out his entire life before Tony had any say in it, and a career decline that's turned his name into a punchline. Keep his head down. Score goals. Don't feel anything. Those are the only rules that matter now.
Then he meets his neighbor.
Mikhail Petrov — Misha — is broad-shouldered and green-eyed and smiles like he means it, and Tony's carefully constructed world cracks down the middle in a building elevator. It shatters the next morning, when Tony walks into Brooklyn's training facility and discovers that Misha is the team's new head athletic trainer.
His trainer.
Off limits in every way that should matter.
Misha has his own reasons to keep things professional. He has a son — Lev, six years old, obsessed with dinosaurs, and the most important person in his world. He spent years hiding who he was in Russia, learning to protect himself at the cost of everything real. He knows exactly how much is at stake if he lets himself want the quiet, closed-off winger in apartment 4B.
He lets himself want him anyway.
What follows is slow and secret and complicated: stolen hallway moments, late-night conversations through shared walls, the terrifying business of two men learning to trust each other when both have been taught that wanting the wrong things costs everything.
When the team finds out and forces Misha to choose between his job and their relationship, Tony faces the hardest decision of his career — and the first one he's ever made entirely for himself.
His Teammate's Secret is a slow-burn MM hockey romance featuring a closeted NHL player, a single-father athletic trainer, a controlling parent as antagonist, a found-family arc with a child character done right, a public coming-out, and an emotionally rich happily ever after. No cliffhanger.
