CHEW, SMACK, POP! These are the sounds that will race through your mind as you read "Hazel's Yummy Gummy Sticky Icky School Day". 7 year old, Hazel Zant loves bubblegum of all flavors and all kinds. But when at school she is challenged by one of Ms. Penny's rules for the second-grade class: "Put Gum Away". This rule is no match for Hazel's desire for this sticky treat. When she is sure Ms. Penny is not watching, she ignores this rule and throws a wad of her favorite kind in her mouth. This poor decision then puts herself, her classmates, the school staff, and even the community emergency workers in the stickiest of situations! No worries though - everyone works together to solve this messy debacle. We all have uncomfortable moments where we need the help of one another. This book can be used as a tool to help teach children the social-emotional concept of community support. We have the responsibility of assisting others when they are in need. When we do this, we all profit from being better together. Read this fun story to see each yummy gummy sticky icky turn of events, be introduced to each member of the Bubblegum Gang at Jubilee Elementary, and see the unlikely character that saves everyone in the end!
