In 2006 a storm raged through the city of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast that changed my life and the lives of many citizens of the city. Life as I knew it and as many knew it instantly changed on the day the storm came ashore. Those who were affected by the storm will never be the same including the fictional characters of this book. My entire purpose in writing these fictional stories is to capture a New Orleans that may be extinct. The simple yet complicated life of New Orleans has given way to a post storm version of the city. The city we now know is bursting at the seams with crime, police brutality, and lack of education, limited employment, and political corruption that seem to know no limit. I hope to captures a piece of New Orleans that may have been washed away by the receding waters of the Katrina. These stories and characters are conceived in fiction but to many who read these pages, the characters and stories will give birth to places and people who actually come to life.
