When Daniel Ståhl was growing up, few would have predicted he'd develop into a world class athlete. But Vésteinn Hafsteinsson, coach of 2008 Olympic discus champion Gerd Kanter, saw tremendous potential in this enormous young man full of frantic energy and a passion for ice hockey. Together, they embarked on a ten-year journey during which Daniel had to contend with early disappointments, crippling self-doubt, and-just as he appeared to be on the brink of triumph-a worldwide pandemic that threatened to derail his dream of becoming Olympic champion. Gold: The Olympic Journey of Daniel Ståhl and Vésteinn Hafsteinsson is the inside story of how Vésteinn helped Daniel overcome all obstacles to become one of the greatest discus throwers in history.
