A boy named Glen thinks that people from the Bible are just old people walking around in sandals back in a time when there was no electricity. Bible stories couldn’t possibly have any meaning in his daily life—or could they? Every morning, Glen’s mother writes a Bible verse on the message board on the refrigerator. One morning she writes from Matthew: “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” That particular day, Glen is bike-riding to the park with his dog Champ. On the way, Champ finds a baby bird that has fallen, and Glen returns it to its nest. Then, Glen finds a pair of abandoned glasses on the sidewalk and puts them in his pocket for safekeeping. Next, Glen encounters an old man having trouble crossing the street. Guess what? Glen offers to help the old man, who just happened to have lost his glasses! It’s a wonderful coincidence, and Glen presents the old man with the glasses he found. Through the day Glen helps other people, but on his way home, his bike chain breaks. Who is there to fix it but the old man from earlier? Glen realizes that maybe the Bible isn’t just a bunch of words that mean nothing; maybe he can use the Bible every day to make good choices!
