Best selling auther, D'niel Jenkins, is killed in a drive-by shooting. Her husband, Detective Rafe Coburn, discovers a nemisis from his past is to blame for her death. There's something weird about the machine, and when she discovers manuscripts of her favourite series, she realises whose computer she's bought. Rafe, aware of his mistake, goes in search of D'niel's computer, eventually arriving on Clare's doorstep.
