Fred the Head weaves a collage of stories, some fictional, others disguised memories, together in search of mutual cohesion. The stories examine, to differing degrees, the lives of those who are obliquely connected to the title character of the piece, who holds them together like orbiting planets. The reader might consider where lost memories go, whether they can ever be found, and how they might be connected to all of us. Is this voodoo, metaphysics, fancy, or madness? Or, perhaps, an acknowledgement that we all are bound by invisible threads which only sometimes make themselves visible to us and the participants of these stories. Fred the Head indirectly examines the nature of fiction, the experiences that inform that fiction, and the power of those experiences to hold us and to follow us over time.
