I began to journal my feelings as my mom began her transition. By writing down those feelings I released the pain and then began to heal. The journey was amazing to me because the words kept flowing like a wild river. The need to write soothed my soul. After I was finished I could not believe how much I had actually written! It reminded me of the day I got the call from the Hospice nurse. "If you want to say goodbye to your mother you need to come... now." I froze. I could not move. My intern Dani brought me back to reality "Louise... GO... GO NOW." I do not remember the drive. One moment I was in my office and the next moment I was at my destination over 2 hours away. This is exactly how I felt as I read my "book". How did I get here? I carefully and slowly shared my poetry with close friends. "I am crying as I read this." "You need to make this a book. I would buy it." The comments were all positive. I also began to talk to others when someone they loved passed and that healed me too. So I thought maybe this journal could help others. Whether the loss was a sister... A beloved pet.... Or a parent.. I seemed to be able to speak to others easier. I also Found I was telling people to spend time with those they loved and appreciate them more. Loss of any kind is so painful. I felt that if I survived this deep hurt I could survive anything. Everyone needs to find their own unique path toward healing but by sharing Feelings and experiences along the way we give ourselves a gift during a challenging time we grow strong together. If you would like to share an experience of loss and how You healed please feel free to email me at info@findingthegoodingoodbye.com.
