English Folk Songs From The Southern Appalachians is a book that was first published in 1917. It was written by Olive Dame Campbell, an American folklorist who spent several years in the Appalachian region of the United States collecting traditional English folk songs that had been passed down through generations. The book contains a collection of 122 songs, along with detailed notes about the history and context of each song. Many of the songs included in the book have roots in the British Isles, and were brought over to the United States by immigrants who settled in the Appalachian region. The book is divided into several sections, each focusing on a specific type of song. There are sections dedicated to ballads, love songs, songs about work, and songs about death and mourning. The book also includes a detailed introduction that provides background information on the history and culture of the Appalachian region, as well as the process of collecting and preserving traditional folk songs. Overall, English Folk Songs From The Southern Appalachians is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history and culture of the Appalachian region, as well as traditional English folk music. It provides a fascinating glimpse into the lives and traditions of the people who have lived in this region for generations, and showcases the enduring power and beauty of traditional folk music. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
