Kay Nielsen, one of the most famous children's book illustrators of all time, will delight children and adults, with this his masterpiece. The stories he illustrated were gathered by famed folklorists and inseparable friends, Peter Christen Asbjørnsen and Jørgen Moe who were the Norwegian Brothers Grimm, travelling the length of Norway in search of folktales. Their stories are "the never-failing springs of sentiment, of sensation, of heroic example, from which primeval peoples drank their fill at will." (Fully illustrated in black and white.)
