Before the romances, before the rescues, before they were family... they were just strangers trying to survive the shift.
Jack is fresh out of prison, hiring on to the only crew that wouldn't throw his application in the trash. He keeps his head down and his mouth shut, terrified that one slip-up will send him back behind bars.
Ford is a cocky derrickhand with a chip on his shoulder and a reckless streak a mile wide. He thinks he can run the floor by himself, and he doesn't trust the quiet ex-con watching his back.
Sam is the new Night Manager, a man drowning in grief after the death of his wife, trying to build a team out of misfits and outcasts. He needs this rig to work, or he loses the only stability he has left for his daughter.
When a brutal "Rig Up" operation goes wrong in the middle of a West Texas thunderstorm, the steel beast known as Rig 54 threatens to crush them before they've even drilled a single foot. To survive the night, these three strangers must stop fighting each other and start fighting the elements.
Witness the moment the brotherhood was forged.
