The seven realms are hurtling toward annihilation. Can the elements of light, darkness, nature, fire, water, ice, and serpent work together to save their lands? On a distant plane of existence, as humankind waged war across the land, seven elemental gods gave to people a precious gift, meant to establish unity among their diversity. But this noble act resulted in the gods' destruction-and the creation of seven realms in their place, each populated with an elemental power. Now, as history unwinds in the realms of fire, water, nature, ice, light, darkness, and spirit-or serpent-the land decays in the absence of the gods. The fire realm grows colder by the day. The ice realm faces starvation as the hunt freezes over. The serpent realm is losing faith in the spiritual. Facing the total annihilation of all their realms, the seven kingdoms must unite. It is only by learning to work together that they can persevere through the calamity, restore their worlds, and create a new future. Weaving together an extraordinary tale and a powerful metaphor for perseverance, Kyla Galindo's Diminished Gods of Prevail is a story about the mutual need for relationships among elemental variations, and how each kind of person needs the other to survive.
