Coles Desert Portraits: Bedouin in the Judean Wilderness at Village Green Shopping Centre in Vernon, BC

Having spent several months meeting the Bedouins of the Judean Desert, Jay Garfinkel was granted access to their families, enabling him to take portraits of family leaders and children. Garfinkel avoids the clichés of the 'noble nomad shepherd' by showing the faces of these desert people close up. A remarkably candid look at one of the most closed tribes.
