Best-selling author Taylor Caldwell creates richly detailed settings with characters so well defined they seem to leap from the pages of history. In this moving novel, she tells the spellbinding life story of Luke, the physician of the New Testament. Even as a child, Lucanus feels driven to care for the sick; he believes the Unknown God is guiding him in this interest. But as he watches loved ones suffer and die, he turns his back on the One who would allow this. Even when gravely ill patients sometimes miraculously recover, he continues to struggle with questions and anger--until he learns more about an amazing rabbi. Taylor Caldwell's exquisite prose brings to life the sights, sounds, and chaos of the latter days of the Roman Empire. With narrator John McDonough's thrilling interpretation of Luke's journey to faith, you'll be inspired to confront and conquer the difficulties in your own life.
