The Year was 1921 a time of infectious economic prosperity in the black community. These post-civil war opportunities were afforded to ex-slaves and their families after the political manifestation of Reconstruction. From this new systematic validation of what most thought would be liberty, were the development of prosperous communities. One such community, Northside Greenwood District of Tulsa Oklahoma, a beacon of light and passionately known as "Black Wall Street." Here, lucrative business and economic freedom would flourish, as black families would flee from tumultuous southern confederate states for an opportunity to establish a foundation of generational wealth. However, this economic advancement which generated resentment from the Southside of Tulsa Oklahoma would soon face one of the worst violent race riots in history. "Dance of Angels'" is a compelling story of two American Families joined by fate. One haunted by the past and the other embracing hope for the future. Torn between these two families, life would never be the same for Queen Sawyer and her twin sisters Connie and Carolyn. When circumstances ending in murder force these young women into exile, they find solace in the wisdom of their old aunt Ma'me. Ma'me an ex-slave born with the gift of second sight, who will soon guide them out of darkness into the light of life. | Dance of Angels by Adrienne Lynn Rutherford, Paperback | Indigo Chapters
