What if there was more to Romeo and Juliet than a couple of infatuated teenagers?
Smitten. Lovestruck. Romeo Montgomery thinks he's been in love more times than he can count, but nothing has ever compared to the instantaneous pull of the angel across the room. They share one almost-kiss, and he knows his life will never be the same. Juliet Caplan has spent her life sheltered from the world, only finding freedom in her beloved books. When a handsome devil tempts her out from the shadows, one brush of his lips is enough to set her world on fire. With the world against them, will Romeo and Juliet be able to rewrite their fate? Or will what's written in the stars doom them to tragedy they can't escape? Crossed Stars is the first book in the Oak Hills series, a contemporary young adult series by Penelope Freed. In Oak Hills you'll find heart-shattering love and tragedy, where things are always darkest just before dawn. Author's note: Crossed Stars is a retelling of the classic Romeo and Juliet, including scenes of suicidal ideation and off-page drug abuse.
