Opioid-related deaths continue to rise every year in the United States, even though there is a greater awareness than ever before, including published testimonies and treatment options. Why is this? The purpose of this book is to explain the why and equip the reader, the addict, and their inner circle of support with critical insight and resources that Scott found either fragmented or overlooked in his journey through addiction. This book explains the metamorphosis that the body's receptors and reward system experience, which leads to the hijacking of the prefrontal cortex that controls cognitive reasoning and will power. Through Scott's research and addiction experience, the reader will hopefully obtain a better understanding of why not to get involved with opioids; but if they are involved, this book explains effective, quick-acting treatment options, and why one's free will becomes extinct. The importance of getting Scott's testimony published is driven by his desire to reduce opioid-related deaths and to prevent treatment programs from being cut short because of the lack of insight about this disease. He believes neither of these will come about without a foundation built on Jesus Christ.
