Lauren Pope's Close your Eyes when you Look at me is a blinding pamphlet which opens: "[i]n the unforgiving light of / the bread aisle". The majority of the poems were written in the short space of a week, lending compression and immediacy to Pope's delightful imagery and emotional intimacy. Close your Eyes... is a remarkable pamphlet whose author has verve and vivacity to describe sound by what it is not... "silence".
