A vicious snowstorm in mid-century New York; a family so desperate they burned cabinet doors for warmth; a doctor on call with no idea that the child he delivered would inherit his name.So begins the moving and far-reaching autobiography of Herman Valdes. Chronicling his life in stunning detail, this sincere and touching book leads readers through a vibrant account of the author's humble beginnings, his struggles with faith, his burgeoning career in coaching, his spiritual rebirth, and everything in between. With emphasis placed on his father's guidance as a driving force on the author's path, this book takes a look at the lives of both men, exploring the lasting generational impact of fatherhood and how that influence rippled into the lives of the young men he coached later in life.In turns uplifting and cautionary, the author presents a wealth of stories and insight that he hopes will inspire others to avoid his mistakes and live up to their fullest potential in Christ. For the tale of a life restored and repurposed, look no further than Chico and the Coach.
