Lucas 'Q' McQue and his girlfriend, Lyn Dugan, come from opposite sides of the tracks. He comes from a low income neighborhood, his parents are alcoholics and he plays on the rugby team. Lyn's family is in the upper echelons of society in southeastern Wisconsin, she's a gorgeous model, is majoring in mathematics, and has an extremely bright future ahead of her. Some would say she is the smartest student at Monaghan University (then why would she date Q?) Despite their differences, they still get it right. Her beauty and intelligence rock his world and she appreciates his straightforward, complimentary style (and his bedroom skills, ha!)
Lyn's first venture into Q's universe is when she attends the rugby state championship game and the after-party at the notorious Burning Bush pub.
It's an eye opening experience. She knew there was another side of him, where he isn't laid back, and it's now front and center. He's excited and loud, like someone plugged him into an electrical socket.
While their relationship grows, storm clouds begin to form over the campus of Monaghan University and they are making a beeline right toward Q.
"O, what men dare do! What men may do! What men daily
do, not knowing what they do!
- William Shakespeare, 'Much Ado About Nothing', Act 6, Scene 1
