The misfit characters in this funny, poignant collection of stories find themselves adrift in an increasingly absurdist world, a world they must reinvent for themselves in order to find hope.
The collection explores how much of our identity is forged by direct experience, and how much is shaped by our constant exposure to an increasing number of images and ideas imposed on us from elsewhere.
With the increasing amount of time the population spends of social media, the question of how exposure to imposed imagery and ideas affects us is still incredibly relevant, and the window into ’80s and ’90s culture taps into the Gen Z and Millennial fascination with nostalgia.
Guy Babineau wrote for Pink Triangle Press ( The Body Politic , Xtra! , Xtra! West , Xtra.ca) for almost 30 years and is still a freelance journalist. He has also written for The Georgia Straight , Vancouver Magazine , the Vancouver Sun , and the National Post . In 2009 he founded LOV (Living Out Vancouver) Magazine .
