Yesterday's shape is still writhing; do you hear the body bending underneath the passage of time? In Burning of Absence , Jessica Thiru's collection explores a vast, insoluble loneliness in all its forms. Who awakens from the sound of their own desire? What becomes of a desire ever-nourishing on the remnants of breaking? This collection steps into the mouth of grief, loneliness, memory and many ephemeral homes. By balancing these universal themes with personal anecdotes, Thiru's collection combines stark imagery and honest storytelling to create a bold and confronting narrative. As a first foot into the writing world, this chapbook serves as a quiet rebellion against the seclusion that molds the lives of us as a collective. Burning of Absence is a warm voice into the big dark.
