Burial Customs, Ghosts And Witch Beliefs Of The Southern Negroes is a book written by Newbell Niles Puckett. This book is an ethnographic study of the burial customs, ghosts, and witch beliefs of African Americans living in the Southern United States. Puckett conducted extensive fieldwork in the early 20th century, interviewing African Americans in rural communities throughout the South. He collected stories about the beliefs and practices surrounding death, burial, and the afterlife, as well as the ways in which African Americans viewed and dealt with supernatural phenomena such as ghosts and witches. The book provides a comprehensive and detailed account of these beliefs and practices, including descriptions of funeral rites, burial customs, and the role of spiritual leaders in African American communities. It also explores the ways in which these beliefs and practices were influenced by African religious traditions, as well as by the experiences of slavery and segregation. Burial Customs, Ghosts And Witch Beliefs Of The Southern Negroes is an important contribution to the study of African American culture and history, and remains a valuable resource for scholars and researchers interested in this topic.THIS 96 PAGE ARTICLE WAS EXTRACTED FROM THE BOOK: Folk Beliefs of the Southern Negro, by Newbell Niles Puckett.
