Some Taiwanese parents are worried that their children may not have enough time to learn Bopomofo (Zhuyin Fuhao) since they only start to learn it in first grade of elementary school. Even if they have Bopomofo flashcards and teaching materials at home, they still don't know how to teach it to their children. To solve this problem, we have transformed the 37 Bopomofo symbols into various characters and objects and placed them in 10 picture books. This allows parents to easily guide their children to learn Bopomofo through "parent-child reading" time and also includes a card game to help reach learning goals. Children may not like "learning", but they always love "picture books". Why do children always remember difficult knowledge in picture books? The secret to making children learn unconsciously is through interesting stories! By transforming the 37 Bopomofo symbols into characters and objects in stories, children can easily remember a few Bopomofo symbols after reading each book and become interested in finding where the Bopomofo is located. The Bopomofo Self-Learning Series was founded by one of the founders of Mula Parent-Child Studio and a Chinese tutor with many years of Bopomofo teaching experience, Teacher Fei. We hope to provide parents or teachers with a set of Bopomofo self-learning products that are easy to use, close to daily life needs, and modern in design. Even parents without teaching experience, children without Bopomofo foundation, or foreign friends who have never learned Bopomofo can learn happily through parent-child reading at home and lay a foundation for their children's future reading and literacy skills. The Bopomofo Self-Learning Series Picture Book and Flashcard Set was launched on the ZecZec crowdfunding platform for pre-order in June 2022 and achieved its funding goal within 10 hours, sparking heated discussions. During the one-and-a-half-month funding period, about 600 sets were ordered, and the total amount raised exceeded 1.65 million. We have transformed the 37 Bopomofo symbols into various characters and objects and placed them in 10 picture book stories to lower the threshold for children to learn Bopomofo through stories. Parents can guide their children to naturally recognize these Bopomofo symbols during parent-child reading time, and also use the card game to achieve learning goals.
