Welcome to the spaces between.
Forget any idea of a fixed, dependable centre ground. The suggestion in this book is that the real story of modern life is found in and along edges, cracks, and boundaries. It’s in these places of ambiguity and glorious uncertainty where the richness is, and often where the fun stuff happens. By providing a wide-ranging look at a variety of contexts, Martin Lee invites readers to step into a broad set of distinctive borderlands — some physical and geographic, some emotional and personal, some having to do with the world of ideas, nature, time, or language and stories — and reflect on what it means for us to live our lives in these contemporary transitional zones.
