"The 2023 Giscours has turned out beautifully, unfurling in the glass with complex aromas of cherries, sweet berries, violets, undergrowth and rose petals. Medium- to full-bodied, it's exquisitely polished and layered, with sweet tannins, excellent mid-palate density and a penetrating finish. It's a blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. Readers may remember that Giscours's old vines are frequently co-planted with younger replacements that have filled any gaps in the ranks over the years; so, blocks are now picked in two or three passages instead of all at once, with the younger vines picked first, something that helps to explain the quality of tannin attained in 2023."
95pts, William Kelley, Wine Advocate.
