It has various types such as mastic asphalt, natural asphalt, cutback asphalt, residual asphalt, asphalt emulsion, and asphalt cement. It becomes soft when heated and is elastic under some circumstances. It is primarily utilized in road constructions as a binder or glue mixed with aggregate particles to make asphalt concrete. Asphalt is also used for bituminous waterproofing products such as manufacturing of roofing felt and for sealing flat roofs.
