Today- Listen more than you talk. Pray with each breath. Seek light in the darkness. Love all-even those who revile you. And remember, God is always in our midst. To pray is to breathe.
As an ordained minister, a prison chaplain-and most of all, a searching soul-Rev. Alfred Twyman believes that to pray is to breathe, and that every breath we take is a prayer. And just as our greatest gift from God is our each and every breath, we are equally gifted with His answers to the prayers we utter from dawn to dark-prayers that carry us from despair to hope, from heartbreak to solace, from sadness to joy. God listens. God hears these prayers. Rev. Twyman offers the prayers and reflections in this book to those in search of peace, love, kindness, and respect in a troubled world. He has filled its pages with laments, praises, and intercessions created over years of helping incarcerated individuals and many others draw near to God, break down the walls of the heart, and find the words that will let their prayers flow from deep within. The chapters in As Long as I Have Breath encompass prayers conceived for countless moments ranging from desperation to celebration-from confronting need to giving thanks. For those who seek a loving relationship with others and with God, Rev. Twyman's prayers are here to guide them along the path of "a journey built on a promise."
