The many practical industries that supported this earliest county in Pennsylvania are documented in this illustrated and detailed study. Here is information on the architecture, stone work, metalsmiths, needlework, ceramics, and pictures made by and of county residents from the seventeenth century to about 1850. Also here is a very useful section on the locally made furniture, including an alphabetically arranged list of cabinetmakers, chair makers, clock makers, joiners and turners working before 1850.
Historians and history buffs alike will pore over the contents with enthusiasm as they see the familiar and beautiful works of local antique interest.
