Annie and Fatima are best friends—until a hurtful comment during playtime sends Fatima running home in tears. Annie feels ashamed and unsure how to fix things. With help from her dad, she learns that saying something mean doesn’t make her a bad person, but it does mean she has to make it right. This illustrated nonfiction picture book for elementary-age readers uses relatable characters and vivid art to explore friendship, empathy, and the power of a sincere apology. Perfect for social-emotional learning, it encourages reflection, responsibility, and a growth mindset.
