When you are born in Anne's world, The Stork gives each baby an animal. This animal grows up with you and is your companion for life, even if owning that animal can be... challenging. Anne is also starting at a new school, where she discovers that other people also have unique pets, like toucans, peacocks, chinchillas, blue baboons, and more! With so many types of animals, there is a helpful zookeeper who helps Anne learn how to take better care of her alligator while also leading a healthy and fulfilled life in and out of school. There are jokes, funny stories, love, a bully, a little bit of math, and even some puke (sorry). There is a little bit for everyone in this book series, but one thing to keep in mind: If you had an animal that grew up with you, what would it be and why? Think about it; it'll help you figure out where you might fit into Anne's world or even your own.
