In this powerful story of inspirational teaching, Shore describes courses she designed and taught on Anne Frank's Diary of a Young Girl to novice and practising teachers at the University of Toronto's esteemed Faculty of Education, OISE/UT. Shore examines how writing informs adolescent development in the context of culturally relevant pedagogy, feminism, history, witness, activism and academic politics. Included are examples of her students' projects and journals, their present-day reflections on how this learning impacted their own teaching, her course outlines, and bibliographies. As well, Shore relates her observations guiding 1300 school-aged students through an exhibit from the Anne Frank House USA (Anne Frank: A History for Today).
