Experimental determinations of these quantities is beset with many difficulties. In a large number of cases it is not possible to re produce in the laboratory the conditions for which the values of the cross sections are desired. In other cases, the measurements made are a sum of the effects of different processes. Therefore it is important to extend the theoretical methods for calculating the individual cross sections.
