Excerpt from An American Railroad Builder: John Murray Forbes The materials for this study have been chiefly the immense mass of Forbes's correspondence as preserved in his letter-press books, a maze to which his unpublished Reminiscences have served as a clue. Except for the annual reports of the Michigan Central and the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroads, and pertinent state and national documents, contemporary matter in print is meagre and throws light, if at all, on things done rather than on ways by which they were. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Find more at www.forgottenbooks.com This book is a reproduction of an important historical work. Forgotten Books uses state-of-the-art technology to digitally reconstruct the work, preserving the original format whilst repairing imperfections present in the aged copy.
