American Gem Cabochons is a wonderful, illustrated handbook on the topic of general gemmology. Comprising information primarily concerning American semi-precious gems capable of being cut in cabochon form, this book was written with the intention of inspiring people to embrace gemmology as a hobby, the author's aim being to present enough examples of these gems to make this work a concise but enthusiastic means of popularising such gem materials. This is a great book for beginners to the field, and constitutes a great addition to any collection of gemmological literature. Chapters contained herein include: Agates, etc., and Descriptions; Moss Agates, and Descriptions; Crystalline and Impure Quartz, etc., and Descriptions; Jasper, Opal, Etc., and Descriptions; Ornamental Gems, and Descriptions; Miscellaneous Gems, and Descriptions; and Obsidian and Other Rock Gems, and Descriptions. We are proud to republish this scarce work here complete with a new introduction to the subject.
