This authoritative reference is the first book exclusively devoted to all-bisque and half-bisque dolls. It covers all periods, from the very early up through present-day makers of originals and reproductions. There is also helpful information on care and a chapter of suggestions for record keeping.
The author explains the process of making bisque and also gives other relevant background material on the manufacture, such as the methods used to make similar dolls in various sizes, the reasons for wide ranges of quality in otherwise look-alike dolls, and information on the most prominent dollmakers of Europe who supplied the American market.
Fact-filled and informative, this book is invaluable to all doll and toy collectors and dealers.
