Sibal Khakiyeva is a proud Ahiska Turk, who lived in a multicultural environment, surrounded by people of all nationalities, ethnicities, and religions. She was raised with a strong appreciation for cultural diversity and an enduring sense of community. Sibal's interest in storytelling stemmed from her discovery of the lack of representation of the Ahiska Turks, and a rich history that is often overlooked. She began a journey to tell the world the story of her people who were resilient, courageous, and a spirit that would not be broken. Sibal's work is an effort to reveal to the world the plight and victories of the Ahiska Turks and save their culture and history for future generations. I dedicate this book lovingly to the Ahiska Turks and their culture, both with admiration for their persistence in the face of adversity and their steadfast commitment to survive in spite of it all.
