Years after Lucas Márquez and Adrián Vega built a life together in Berlin, their love is tested by a place that refuses to let its past remain buried.
When the city considers redeveloping the abandoned Orpheus Theatre, Lucas—an architect known for designing spaces that bring people together—and Adrián—a former dancer turned choreographer and teacher—are invited to imagine its future. What begins as an opportunity to create a public arts center soon becomes something far more dangerous.
Behind the theatre's sealed green room lies evidence of a forgotten 1991 fire, a locked emergency exit, and a group of queer dancers whose names were erased from history. As Lucas uncovers his late father's connection to the tragedy, Adrián finds a lost choreography that may contain the map to an escape route—and the truth about a survivor who never truly disappeared.
But the closer they come to exposing a powerful developer and a decades-old cover-up, the more their marriage is pushed to its limits. Secrets, ambition, fear, distance, and the pressure of protecting their daughter threaten to turn love into another locked room.
After the Applause is an emotional story about memory, forgiveness, queer legacy, second chances, and the courage to keep choosing one another—even after the audience has gone home.
