According to the post-mortem, retired businessman Victor Farndale died of natural causes, but his children are convinced he was killed deliberately. Has Victor simply forgotten to take his heart medication, or is there a plot afoot to frame his son-in-law Matt? Detective Inspector Collins knows a murder case when he sees one, but his new boss is not convinced, and would prefer it if he didn’t spend all his time interviewing witnesses at Ulvercott House.
