Set in a future where the world has achieved a form of utopia, "After Some Tomorrow" presents a society that has solved many of the economic and social problems that plague contemporary civilization. In this world, technology has progressed to the point where scarcity is no longer an issue, and people are free to pursue their interests without the constant pressures of survival or material accumulation. The protagonist, however, becomes disillusioned with the utopian system, feeling that this apparent perfection has come at the cost of human ambition and vitality. As the novel unfolds, he grapples with the question of whether this ideal world is truly as perfect as it seems or whether the elimination of struggle has led to a loss of purpose and meaning.
